Palm Banding

Are falling palm fronds causing concern for your residents and guests?

Frontier tree services offer a customised Palm Banding solution for those pesky and somewhat dangerous falling fronds. We apply banding just under the crown of the palm, catching any dead fronds and keeping them in place until your next palm cleaning visit. Palm banding can be booked as a single visit application, or as a packaged service for multiple cleans and visits throughout the year. If your palms are causing you concern, ask our Arborist if palm banding is suitable for your palms during your next quotation appointment.

Vegetation Management Plans

Frontier Tree Services provide comprehensive vegetation management plans specifically designed to address the needs of body corporate and strata title properties.

Investing in a vegetation management plan is an excellent tool for assessing potential risks and planning and budgeting for necessary tree maintenance. This PDF report documents all protected vegetation within the property, recording the species, size, age and condition with recommendations for any required work and a priority rating. This allows body corporate committees to plan for any necessary maintenance and acts as a handy budgeting tool.

Vegetation Management Plans are also useful when it comes to getting council approval for tree removal projects. Lodging single applications to council for individual tree removals can start to add up, especially if you encounter a few problematic trees during the year. Submitting a vegetation management plan for approval will allow all trees to be assessed in the one application and provide the body corporate up to two years to work through the approved recommended works.

If budget is on your mind, ask us about our packaged services to receive discounted rates.

We offer customised service packages, incorporating report updates, nominal values of tree work, replanting or council applications with your vegetation management plans.

Compliance with Local Law & Council Applications

Frontier Tree Services include council lodgement fees in all our tree removal quotes, when required. Our AQF L5 Arborist will correctly identify your trees and advise what local laws apply to your intended tree work, ensuring you will always comply with local laws and regulations relating to tree removal and tree pruning.

Any vegetation (trees) that form part of an approved landscaping plan are deemed protected under local law. With a few minor exceptions, all body corporate and strata title properties on the Gold Coast have an approved landscaping plan. This means body corporates must have their trees assessed and identified by an AQF L3 or L5 Arborist, and in most instances lodge an application to council to gain approval for any tree removals.

Protected trees must be pruned to Australian standard AS:4373, pruning of amenity trees. They cannot be lopped, topped or damaged in any way. It is therefore necessary to ensure that your body corporate committee only engage the services of a qualified Arborist to undertake tree pruning within your body corporate. Only a qualified Arborist has the correct training and knowledge to prune to this standard and comply to this regulation.

Beware – Working with unqualified tree loppers or allowing gardeners to lop protected trees can result in the Gold Coast City Council issuing substantial fines, along with significant replanting orders. Be informed and always work with a qualified Arborist by asking your quoter about their qualifications. Don’t get caught out like this body corporate did a few years ago.
